2021 OBI Speaker Series: Oregon’s Difficult History and the Path Forward
Join OBI for our monthly Speaker Series event, which will feature a keynote presentation from Oregon Historical Society Executive Director Kerry Tymchuk, who will talk about racism in Oregon history. Director Tymchuk will be joined by Eliza Canty-Jones, the Oregon Historical Society director of community engagement, and Senator Margaret Carter, the first Black woman elected to the Oregon Legislature. Senator Carter served in the Oregon House of Representatives from 1985 until 1999, and then in the Oregon Senate from 2001 to 2009.
As we acknowledge the anniversary of statehood and Black History Month, our speakers will discuss the path forward and the role our business community can play in making Oregon more equitable.
